North Carolina Children Enjoy Summer and Weekends without Fear of Hunger

Many people are familiar with school breakfast and lunch assistance programs. However, few realize that when school is closed on weekends and during the summer months, many children in North Carolina go hungry. To address this gap, the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina created the Kids Meals & More program to ensure that children in need of meals receive nutritious food when breakfasts and lunches aren’t available through school assistance. One aspect of this program is Weekend Power Packs, which provides six meals for children to take home over the weekend to ensure they have access to nutritious food.

The Kids Meals & More program at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina aims to ensure that children have enough to eat so they are ready to learn and grow, even outside of school.
